Andy Murray is the lead editor for the latest version of PRINCE2, Version seven.
Andy collaborated with other PRINCE2 authors, the examination team at Peoplecert, and global reviewers to develop the PRINCE2 V7 guidance, which will be accessible from September 2023 onwards. Like the last version, where Andy spearheaded the development, the seventh version presents significant updates. This includes alterations in examinations, the addition of new sections, and the removal of several parts. Today, PRINCE2 is employed by millions of project managers worldwide. We invited Andy to shed light on the discussions behind the scenes.
Project management is a field marked by debates over the optimal delivery methods. Despite substantial investment in qualifications over the past two decades, there has yet to be much success in proving their efficacy, as projects continue to be delivered late and fall short of standards. Project managers are often thrust into the daunting task of initiating large-scale projects to tackle environmental crises, recovery from a global pandemic, and managing external challenges like supply-side shocks.
With the rise of Artificial Intelligence, diverging global political systems, and an increasing rate of worldwide poverty, project managers must balance these complexities while advocating for best practices. These issues are vying for the attention of professionals promoting the most effective project management methodologies.
