Introduction to Brad Bigelow
2m 36s
Brad Bigelow, a contributor to the PRINCE2 V7 update, recounts his involvement in the project. Having previously worked with John Edmonds at NATO and been an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), Brad was approached by John due to his extensive experience. He had contributed to the PMI's PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) and the Standard for Program Management, as well as being a speaker at various PMI conferences.
John and Andy Murray were keen on bridging the gap between PRINCE2 and PMI methodologies, a goal that Brad fully supported. After being sworn to confidentiality, Brad was invited to participate in the PRINCE2 update. To his surprise, he was asked to lead the chapters on plans, quality, and issues. Despite not being a PRINCE2 guru or instructor, Brad had practical experience with PRINCE2, having adopted it as the standard methodology at his NATO agency.
Brad felt both flattered and intimidated by this opportunity, recognizing the significance of plans and quality in differentiating project management from other organizational activities. He views these elements as central to project management – plans defining the project's actions and quality defining its deliverables. Additionally, he acknowledges the importance of addressing issues that arise during project execution.
